Public notification of planned water shutoff

Homes in Markleeville will be without water on Monday as crews work to connect a new pump station, a project officials say will improve the long-term reliability of the town’s water system.

The system-wide shutdown is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. while the Markleeville Water Company completes the critical tie-in.

Officials acknowledged the inconvenience but said the upgrade is necessary to maintain sustainable water service.

During the shutdown, Alpine County offices in Woodfords, including Community Development, Health & Human Services, and Behavioral Health Services, will remain open and provide public restroom access.

Turtle Rock Park will also be available for county services and restrooms, though people are advised to contact offices ahead for specific availability.

Some administrative offices at 99 Water St., such as the Clerks, Assessors, and Finance offices, may operate with limited staffing or from alternate locations. Portable water stations and restroom facilities will be on-site to assist the public.

Alpine County said any additional notices from the Markleeville Water Company will be shared as they become available, encouraging homes and businesses to plan ahead for the outage.
