The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is seeking 9 volunteers to serve on the School Naming Committee, which is being reinstated to name the new elementary school to be located on the current Pine Middle School campus.
The committee will serve in an advisory capacity to the WCSD Board of Trustees, which will make the final decision on the name of the new school.
The application period will be open from March 30 through April 13, 2026. Once applications are received, individuals who meet the requirements will be contacted for the next steps in the process. Ultimately, the Board of Trustees gives final approval to committee appointments.
The district is recruiting members of the community for its remaining 9 seats, openings from various geographic areas and professional groups:Â

One community member residing in Trustee Zone B
One community member residing in Trustee Zone C
One community member residing in Trustee Zone D
One community member residing in Trustee Zone E
One community member residing in Trustee Zone F
One community member residing in Trustee Zone G
Two At-Large Representatives who reside in Washoe County
The Board of Trustees supports the use of committees to advise the Board and provide a variety of perspectives regarding educational programs, safety, operations, financial reporting, maintenance, and support services.Â
