Douglas County deputies have identified the two people involved in a shooting in Minden late Monday morning.

Deputies say it appears that 63-year-old Gregory Raymond Ward shot 63-year-old Kathy Jean Weiland and then shot himself trying to commit suicide. 

Weiland died on scene, while Ward was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno where he was listed in critical condition.

Deputies originally responded to the scene on Dennis Street around 11 a.m.

Douglas County Sheriff Dan Coverley says there is no threat to the community.

The investigation remains ongoing.Â
