We have new details on a story we've followed all week.
Drivers told us they were having car issues after filling up at a gas station in Yerington.
On Thursday, we spoke to Golden Gate Petroleum that told us the corporate office will pay for damage done to people's cars.
"It would have to be a legitimate claim during that time period and we would fix their vehicle for a legitimate claim. They would reach out to our corporate office," says Randy Shores, marketing manager.
Golden Gate Petroleum says on Friday, May 9th - a delivery driver mistakenly put diesel fuel in a hose that was meant for regular unleaded.
This resulted in people putting diesel in their cars.
The gas station says they learned about the mistake the next morning and they took steps immediately to correct it, including closing the station.
If you filled up your tank there and are now having car issues, you can submit a claim by calling Golden Gate's corporate office at 775-850- 3010
MAY 14, 2025:
Many people are expressing frustrations after a stop at a Yerington gas station left some of their cars so damaged they can't drive them anymore. Some are even worried the alleged contaminated gas may have totaled their cars.
"My car started to shake like crazy, and then all of my service lights started to turn on, and then I started losing power,"Â said Zuleyma Arellano, Reno resident, of his experience after filling up at Golden Gate Gas Station in Yerington.
"I hit the freaking gas pedal, and it doesn't want to go, and it just lost a lot of torque, and it backfires now,"Â said Travis Chrismer, Fallon resident.
Once he got back to Fallon from Yerington, Chrismer says he quickly found out that something was wrong with his fuel pump, or rather the gas inside it.
He says he flushed it out but now can't travel for work as he uses his truck for his landscaping business.
He reached out to Golden Gate and says they told him they're not responsible.
Chrismer says, "I called Yerington (the gas station) yesterday and they told me that's on me. That it's my own risk for pumping gas at their gas station."
Zuleyma Arellano says her car had to be towed all the way back to the Reno Mitsubishi dealership. She says the dealership told her they found water in her gas and now she's left with no car until it's fixed.
"They did also suggest getting the fuel system completely replaced and quoted me at $18,000,"Â Arellano said.
Arellano and Chrismer both say they have reached out to corporate although nothing has been resolved yet.
Arellano says she has no other car to use while hers sits in the dealership, and its only three years old.
"I just bought this car," she said. "I'm single, I need to get places, I don't have much help. It's been really rough, very stressful, my anxiety is through the roof."
Chrismer laughs, "I don't know what to do with the truck now. The truck's going to blow up."Â
He says he is planning on getting his truck professionally diagnosed. But he's worried he'll have to also replace his fuel tank because it will cost him thousands.
We have reached out to Golden Gate corporate and the Yerington location but have not heard back yet.
