A man was arrested, and another person is in the hospital after a stabbing allegedly took place in South Lake Tahoe.

South Lake Tahoe police were called to a report of a stabbing around 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 1.

The victim was in the hospital with multiple stab wounds.

Police say they identified the suspect as 43-year-old David Valenzuela from South Lake Tahoe.

They say they went to his home and tried to negotiate with him, but he refused to surrender to police.

The police called SWAT and crisis negotiators, and tear gas was used to get him outside.

Valenzuela was booked into the El Dorado Jail and faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and resisting a law enforcement officer.

He is being held without bail.
