A man was arrested and faces one charge of dissecting a human body.

The Reno Police Department arrested 70-year-old David Immel Masters on Thursday, May 23.

According to court documents, Masters' wife was in hospice, had a rare bone disease, and had passed away in the morning.

When he took his wife to the Medical Examiner, they noticed one of her legs was missing.

The Medical Examiner contacted police, who spoke to Masters.

Upon questioning, authorities say Masters told the detectives that UNR students had taken her leg for research, but later admitted to cutting it off himself and keeping it, claiming he was planning on getting it to the right people to conduct medical research about her disease.

Masters was arrested and faces the charge of dissection of a human body.
