Reno Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting that injured seven people at Zephyr Pointe Apartments in October 2023. 

Multiple agencies responded to the complex on North McCarran Blvd. near West 7th Street around 10:45 p.m. on October 6.

The victims were four adults and three kids.

On December 24, 2024, more than a year later, police arrested suspect. 19-year-old Frank Hewitt and charged with him:

  • Seven counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon.
  • Two counts of Battery with substantial bodily harm
  • Two counts of Battery with a Deadly Weapon
  • Three counts of child abuse of the deadly weapon.
  • One count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Hewitt was already in custody for an unrelated shooting offense and was additionally charged.

The investigation is ongoing.

Multiple agencies responded to calls of reported shots at 10:45 p.m. on October 6, 2023.

Reno Police say a shooting broke out at the Zephyr Pointe Apartments in North Reno on North McCarran Boulevard near West 7th Street.

When officers got to the scene, they found seven people were shot. Four of the victims were adults and three were teenagers.

The Reno Fire Department and REMSA provided emergency medical aid on scene but all victims needed to be rushed to the hospital.

One adult man and one teenage girl remain in critical condition at this time.

Investigators believe an ongoing dispute led to the shooting.
