The United States has imposed sanctions on Cuba’s President Miguel DÃaz-Canel, along with four other individuals, according to a filing Thursday on the U.S. Treasury Department website. Included in the sanctions are Alejandro Castro EspÃn, the son of former President Raúl Castro, who served as the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and nephew of Fidel Castro, who was the leader of Cuba from 1959 to 2008. The sanctions come after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order expanding sanctions against the island.
