President Donald Trump has delayed a threatened U.S. strike on Iran’s energy infrastructure and extended a deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz until April 6. Trump says talks with Iran to end the war are going well, saying Iranian leaders were “begging to make a deal.” Tehran has dismissed Trump’s 15-point ceasefire plan. Trump’s announcement on social media came after U.S. stocks fell sharply Thursday and oil prices rose, as doubt took over again on Wall Street about a possible end to the war.
