President Donald Trump is casting doubt on whether Alaska's Democratic U.S. Senate candidate would be seated even if she won the election after accusations her campaign recruited another candidate with the same name as Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan. The New York Times reports Democrat Mary Peltola’s team may have recruited another Dan Sullivan to confuse voters. Trump said Thursday it's “hard to believe” Peltola could even be allowed to run and “you’re going to have to see what happens.” Alaska Republican Gov. Mike Dunleavy has ordered an investigation, saying tricking voters “strikes at the integrity of our elections.” Peltola dismisses the allegations as a distraction from key issues.
Alaska’s Republican governor has ordered an investigation in response to President Donald Trump’s demand for a criminal probe of whether Democratic Senate nominee Mary Peltola’s campaign was involved in recruiting a spoiler candidate with the same name as Republican incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan. A federal judge rejected the Trump administration effort to stop California from processing 20,000 ballots it claims are being cast by non-citizens, warning it would “wreak havoc” as more than 3.7 million people have already voted. And both Trump and former President Barack Obama are barnstorming ahead of Tuesday's Election Day.
