Republicans have gathered in Dallas for the closing day of their party’s midterm convention. Their aim is to highlight President Donald Trump’s influence and boost enthusiasm among GOP voters ahead of November’s midterm election. Both Trump and Vice President JD Vance addressed the gathering late Thursday evening. Speakers at the two-day event have derided Democratic candidates as extremists. They've also offered defenses of Trump’s war in Iran. Meanwhile Democrats have blasted the GOP convention as a showy spectacle by an out-of-touch president. They say the gathering won't be enough to make voters ignore the economic realities of rising prices on gas, groceries and other goods.
