U.S. stocks held steady after the Federal Reserve said it was leaving its main interest rate, which can affect the broad economy and financial markets worldwide, unchanged. The S&P 500 rose 0.1% Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 107 points, and the Nasdaq composite slipped 0.1%. Gains on Wall Street for GE HealthCare Technologies and Etsy following strong earnings reports helped offset drops for Boston Scientific and Robinhood Markets. Treasury yields ticked higher after two Fed officials broke with their peers and said they wanted to raise the federal funds rate. Oil prices rose.
