Immigration TPS El Salvador

Temporary legal protections for about 200,000 immigrants from El Salvador are in limbo as a deadline nears for the Trump administration to decide on ending them, as they have for hundreds of thousands from Venezuela, Haiti and other countries. The Temporary Protected Status designation expires Wednesday. If the administration takes no action, TPS will be automatically extended for six months. TPS was initially granted for El Salvador in 2001 after devastating earthquakes in the Central American country. Under TPS, people already in the United States can remain if it's deemed unsafe for them to return.
