A magnitude 7.8 earthquake has shaken part of the southern Philippines, and a tsunami was possible on some regional coasts. Slight damage was reported in the main city near the epicenter of the Monday morning earthquake. The quake also knocked out power, and people were urged to go to higher ground due to the tsunami risk. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the epicenter was near General Santos city on the island of Mindanao. Indonesia authorities said small tsunami waves were measured.
