A wrongful-death lawsuit filed against the Los Angeles Police Department for an officer’s fatal shooting of a 14-year-old in a clothing store is set to begin trial. The lawsuit filed by the girl’s parents alleges wrongful death, negligence and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Trial will begin Wednesday. Police were responding to reports of a man behaving erratically and attacking people in a Burlington clothing store in December 2021. One officer fired three shots and one of the bullets went through a dressing room wall, striking and killing the girl. The Los Angeles city attorney’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
