Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is seeking to reaffirm her alliance with President Donald Trump after the president this week complained Japan was among the nations that did not join his call to help protect the Strait of Hormuz. Takaichi met with Trump at the White House on Thursday and told the Republican president Japan has opposed Iran’s development of its nuclear program. Takaichi has appealed to Trump’s desire to be seen as a peacemaker, despite launching a war of choice with Iran. Takaichi tells Trump she firmly believes only he "can achieve peace across the world.” Trump says they'll discuss Japan's level of support for the U.S. in the Iran war.
