A crash between a bicycle and a car on Wednesday morning sent a 10-year-old bicyclist to the hospital.

It happened around 9 a.m. at the intersection of Corrigan Way and Moth Circle in the North Valleys, according to a release from the Reno Police Department.

An investigation determined the bicyclist failed to stop at a stop sign and hit the side of a car in the intersection.

The 10-year-old was not wearing a helmet, according to police.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital. Their condition was not provided, but police say they are stable.

The driver of the car stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

It does not appear that impairment or the speed of the driver were factors in the crash, according to police.

The Reno Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.

Police believe there may be witnesses to the crash who did not remain on the scene.
