The Nevada Division of Public Safety is now known as the Nevada State Police.
The name change was made as part of Senate Bill 58 to better reflect the mission of the department.
The name change took effect today, Tuesday, November 23rd nd will not require any extra money to implement.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is now known as the Highway Patrol Division of the state police.
Vehicles will be updated as they age out and are replaced.
While the DPS remains the umbrella name for the Department, for simplification purposes, Nevada State Police will be utilized in social media, on vehicles, and on collateral material, including recruiting efforts.
Law enforcement divisions within the State Police include Highway Patrol, Parole and Probation, Capitol Police, Investigations, and the State Fire Marshal.
