An uptick in the theft of bikes and e-bikes in the area of Incline Village has prompted the Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) to release a warning.
The WCSO says that since the end of June this year, they've fielded four separate cases of bike theft, two of them involving e-bikes that were locked up securely.
They say that in the instances were the bikes were locked up, locks were found cut at the scene.
To help prevent future theft, WCSO has provided the following safety tips:
- Record your e-bike's serial number and keep it in a safe place; non-motorized bikes may also have a serial number located somewhere on the frame.
- Take clear photos of your bike or e-bike for identification purposes in case of theft.
- Keep your bike or e-bike out of public view when it's being stored at home.
- Always secure your bike or e-bike with a high-quality lock.
