Pahrump Justice of the Peace Michele Fiore has been granted a temporary reprieve from punishment after being suspended without pay in May.
According to a order published by the Nevada Supreme Court, a petition has been filed by Fiore that challenges the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline's (the Commission) jurisdiction regarding complaints made against Fiore in her position as a judge.
The court ruled that a response from the Commission would help to clarify, and has given them 28 days to file and serve an answer to the petition.
After that, Fiore will have 14 days to file any replies.
Fiore also filed an emergency motion to stay the proceedings until the petition is resolved, which was granted by the Nevada Supreme Court. This means that any current punishment being handed down by the Commission will be suspended.
