The Christmas week holiday storms brought over 6 feet of snow to Palisades Tahoe, which opened runs on their upper mountain to the public today.
"We got 79 inches of new snow. It was an absolute Christmas miracle. It was pretty slim pickings before, but now we're working on getting our whole mountain open. Our team has been working around the clock to get this place open," says Palisades PR Manager, Patrick Lacey.
Miles McLean has more after checking out Palisade's opening day.
Lacey adds that without the team, none of it would be possible, from Ski Patrol to Avalanche Technicians; everyone worked hard to make it possible.
We spoke to excited skiers and snowboarders who traveled from all across the nation.
"13-hour drive. It was great. You know, the weather was coming over, the passes a little iffy, but we got here," says Jeff from Washington.
"We just came out from the East Coast. We live in Boston, so we're really happy to get out of here and go," says Michelle from Boston.
"It's just kind of amazing to get this much snow in such a short period of time and get everything open," says Jordan from Boston.
Lines were wrapped around the resort as guests took advantage of the shining sun and the fresh powder.
Palisades Tahoe has upcoming events all throughout the season. Those can be found on our website.
