Two people were arrested following a road rage argument on Saturday, January 24th.

The Sparks Police Department says it happened just after 7 p.m. near the intersection of Highland Ranch Parkway and Pyramid Way.

Police told us the victims fired off two shots in self-defense before the suspects left the scene.

After investigating, police arrested 50-year-old Gayla Williams and 45-year-old Earl Williams, both of Sun Valley. They're charged with burglarizing a vehicle.

Officers provided tips so others might avoid similar incidents in the future.

They say to stay calm and not engage and to give other drivers space.

If another driver becomes aggressive, police say not to take it personally and not block or chase those drivers.

If a driver feels threatened, officers say they should keep their windows up and doors locked. They also tell us to use horns sparingly.

If a driver is followed or threatened, police tell us they should drive to a well-lit, busy area or the next police station.

They should also call emergency services and describe the car.

Most importantly, they say not to drive directly home and to stay in the car. This protects drivers from further danger.

Neighbors told us the most important thing to remember is that if a driver becomes aggressive, stay calm and drive slowly.

They say getting home safely to your family is truly what matters.
