A teen faces sentencing next week after pleading guilty to a crash that killed a staffer from Senator Catherine Cortez Masto's office.Â
Court documents show that Elmer Rueda-Linares pleaded guilty in August and is scheduled to be sentenced next Monday.Â
He faced a felony charge of duty to stop at scene of crash involving death or personal injury after a crash near Kietzke and Peckham Lanes this past April. Police say he was found later after he ran away from the crash site.
The coroner says 38-year-old Kurt Englehart died as a result of the crash.Â
Rueda-Linares had faced up to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $5,000. Court documents show he will not be eligible for parole.Â
By pleading guilty, prosecutors will recommend up to 10 years in prison and a minimum fine of $2,000. He will also plead guilty to DUI.
