Mendive Middle School in Sparks was on a precautionary code yellow lockdown due to a WCSD police investigation on Monday. 

The Washoe County School District announced the lockdown before 9 a.m. on Monday and lifted it a few minutes later. 

Mendive's principal says they got a tip about a possible weapon on campus. After an investigation, he says they found an airsoft handgun in a student’s possession.

He says no threats were made, and the students and staff were kept safe.
