Reno water stats

The storm gate is open and our snowpack is in much better shape now than it was before the week of Christmas. Reno is nearly two inches above average for the water year, which starts October 1st.

While we’ve seen a lot of rain in Reno, there has not been very much snow. Only a trace of snow fell at the Reno airport in December, when average is 5.2”. Reno averages 7.2” of snow since July 1st, but only a trace of an inch has fallen since this summer.

Tahoe City snow stats

Luckily, our basins are in decent shape now, thanks to our most recent storm over Christmas. The Truckee and Tahoe Basins are between 90-95% of median. January is usually our snowiest month, fingers crossed we can get more snow in 2026. Tahoe City has seen 20.5 inches of snow since December 1st, which puts them in the red by over a foot.
