There are just two days before the Reno Philharmonic (Reno Phil) pops off with their biggest fundraiser of the year, "Pops On The River," proudly presented by 2News Nevada. Â
While it will definitely be Pops, it's not so much on the river this year.
The Reno Phil will hold its annual fundraiser at the Reno Livestock Events Center located at 1350 North Wells Avenue on Saturday, July 13.
For the event's 29th year, the Phil will perform music from country artists new and old, like Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, and Allen Jackson, and some new artists that have emerged on the country scene, in full orchestral arrangements.Â
"We have a lot of country music fans in this town," Pops Co-Chair Todd Felts said. "It will truly be the best part in Reno this summer."
Every year more than a thousand music fans pack into this event, celebrating a different theme. They come dressed in costume, ready to compete with their groups for top honors. It's a stiff competition.
"I know people who have been planning their table since February," Felts said. "I have a feeling we are going to have a lot of Dolly Partons."
The event raises money for the Reno Phil's programming all year long.Â
In addition to the concert, the evening features a costume & table decorating contest, raffle and an auction.Â
Gates to the event open at 5 p.m.
The concert begins at 8 p.m.
While it's typically sold out, this year's larger venue allowed them to expand their numbers. For more information or to buy general admission tickets, click here.
