Drivers along Sparks Boulevard should be prepared for traffic impacts over the next 70 days as the Regional Transportation Commission plans for 24/7 closures and reductions during that time.
Inside lanes, both north and southbound on Sparks Boulevard, will be closed between Springland/O'Callaghan Drive and Baring Boulevard.
Additionally, Howard Drive remains closed 24/7, and drivers should use the detour on Fargo Way.
"Closing lanes in both directions at the same time allows us to complete this phase of work more efficiently and safely," said RTC Project Manager Garrett Rodgers. "We know this will be disruptive, and we appreciate the community's patience as we work to deliver long-term safety and mobility improvements along Sparks Boulevard."
RTC hopes these closures will allow their teams to work more safely and more quickly as they continue to widen Sparks Boulevard and add multi-use paths and ADA accessibility.
"We understand that it's a heavy lift. We drive the same routes everybody else does. We have people in this building who work out in that area who face the same traffic commutes that the community does. But we think with this project, it's really going to be worth it," said Josh MacEachern, Public Information Officer, RTC.
