Three earthquakes hit near Belden, California around 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The shaking began with a magnitude 4.5 earthquake at 6:34, followed by a magnitude 4.3 about 30 seconds later.

At 7:03 p.m., a smaller magnitude 2.9 earthquake hit slightly east of the other two.

Belden, California is about 40 miles southwest of Susanville, and 20 miles northwest of Quincy.
