The annual Tour des Trees bike ride is now underway after a morning tree planting and blessing ceremony in City Plaza Park in downtown Reno.
The City of Reno also proclaimed September 27th 'Tour Des Trees Day'.
"We want to make sure that as many cities that want trees in their city have access to them and plant them correctly, plant them so they live. Plant them so they live for long periods of time and help provide that shade," says Jonathan Cain, Community Engagement Manager, TREE Fund.
The ride benefits the non-profit organization 'Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund' (TREE Fund) and will travel almost 400-miles by bike, from Reno to Half Moon Bay, California.
This year’s ride has attracted 77 riders from all over the United States plus, Canada and the United Kingdom!
