The Truckee Meadows Water Authority gave their annual water supply outlook Thursday.

Things are looking solid for the year with no concerns, but the start of the year wasn't looking too promising.

"If you remember, January was super dry and so we had weeks of no precipitation; so we really dropped below average for quite some time," said Kara Steeland, Senior Hydrologist for the Truckee Meadows Water Authority.

Mother Nature did send our region some late season storms, including the one to kick off April.

"In terms of snow pack, normal is a really good thing," Steeland said. "We're looking for normal or average snow pack. That means we've had a good year, we're going to have a great run off and so that's what we ended up getting this year."

The Sierra Nevada snow packs are as of now, above average.

Steeland says we've seen great results for the snow pack over the last three years.

All six of our reservoirs are looking to be full or nearly full.

The region is also currently drought-free and TMWA will be able to run normal water operations.

"In the beginning of our winter season we were in an abnormally dried period going into February because of that really dry January," Steeland said. "We were still in that abnormally dry period, but because of those late season storms we received, we are out of that abnormally dry period."

Truckee River flows are not expected to be anything to crazy either.

"We're looking for average flows and that's what we see there," Steeland said. "We don't see any of those big spikes. We're not expecting to have any high run off events or flooding."

While the supply is looking good, TMWA is still asking folks to be cautious of conserving water.
