Reno High School

Two local high school teams will be traveling to Leesburg, Virginia this April to compete in a national competition.

"We the People" is a course where students learn how to become effective citizens.

Participants in the contest compete in mock Congressional hearings and testify as expert witnesses before judges to present and debate their positions on questions surrounding the United States constitution.

Reno High School's team took first place in the state competition.

Incline High School's team placed second, but they were also chosen to compete at the national level through a Wild Card spot, one of only a handful in the country.

During the national finals, each hearing will begin with a four-minute opening statement followed by eight minutes of follow-up questions.

This contest provides students an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of Constitutional principles.

Congratulations and good luck to both teams!Â
