McQueen High School went into a code yellow lockdown Thursday morning due to a bomb threat that ultimately proved unfounded.

The Washoe County School District announced the lockdown on its website at 10:15 a.m. and was lifted before noon.

The school sent out this message to McQueen families:

Hello McQueen families,

This is Principal Holbrook, and I want to share important information with you:

We became aware of a bomb threat involving our site at approximately 10:20am this morning. We put the school under a precautionary Code Yellow Secured Campus while School Police and administration cleared the building and confirmed no threat was present. The code yellow was lifted as soon as School Police cleared it and school went forward as normal for the remainder of the day.

I want you to know that I am very proud of the way in which our teachers and students used their skills to follow the proper procedures safely today during this incident. As you know, we practice these safety measures throughout the year, and everything went very smoothly.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us in the office

Thank you,

Freeman Holbrook
