The U.K. has recorded its hottest day of the year, with temperatures hitting 38.1 degrees Celsius in west London. This surpasses the previous high of 38 degrees recorded in June. Britain and France are experiencing their fifth heat wave of the year. Both countries face challenges with the heat, as air conditioning is rare outside shops and offices. Drought conditions are spreading, affecting crops and water resources. Authorities remain on high alert for wildfires, with firefighters in action in both countries. Prime Minister Andy Burnham considers banning disposable barbecues to prevent further fires.
