French survivors of clergy sexual abuse have met with Pope Leo XIV. They have praised the encounter, saying he listened to them was informed of their cases and said more work needed to be done to respond to the scandal. Five of the seven survivors who met with Leo held a press conference in Lourdes, the Catholic shrine that has long drawn sick and disabled people and more recently victims of abuse. Jean-Marie Delbos said he never thought the day would come when he would meet a pope. He asked Leo to bless a photo of his grandmother, which he did. “It was extraordinary,” he said.
