Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar is actively pursuing former officials accused of corruption and power abuses. In an exclusive interview with AP on Tuesday, he said efforts to recover assets misused under predecessor Viktor Orbán are underway. Magyar's government, which defeated Orbán's far-right party in April, established the National Asset Recovery and Protection Office in July. This "superauthority" aims to uncover corruption cases quickly. Magyar has also applied to join the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, reversing Orbán’s refusal. While some former officials face charges, Magyar acknowledges pressure for faster results. He emphasizes building a democratic country that complies with EU rights.
