The U.S. military says it has fired on an Iranian oil tanker as President Donald Trump seeks to pressure Tehran into reaching a deal to end the war. U.S. Central Command said Wednesday that an American fighter jet shot the rudder of an Iranian-flagged tanker attempting to breach the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports. It occurred as the U.S. and Iran appeared to be moving closer to an agreement to end the two-month war. Trump on social media threated of a new wave of bombing if a deal is not reached that includes opening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for shipping oil and natural gas.
