At least seven people have died after a ferry carrying nearly 270 passengers and crew capsized off the coast of northern Cyprus. Turkish media reported the incident happened Sunday. Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Unal Ustel told TRT news channel that 237 people have been rescued. A search is underway for 24 others. Ustel said the ferry faced adverse weather conditions and began taking in water just 15 minutes after departure. The ferry was traveling from Kyrenia in northern Cyprus to the Turkish port of Tasucu. Many passengers and crew have been rescued, with some taken to hospitals.
