A North Valleys bar that made it through the shutdown with the support of the community is giving back. The 395 Craft Beer and Spirits opened up a little more than two years ago.
"We got to open for a year and then close for a year," said Co-Owner Paul Ganzer. "And basically it was the support of everybody up here in the North Valleys is why we kind of powered through and are able to open back up and start giving back to everybody who helped us out. We've got a really good crew here, kind of like the Cheers of the North Valleys; a lot of the same usual suspects are here, especially when we do these events, so it's a lot of fun to get together and also give back."
They're holding a fundraising event for The Animal Ark, a local nonprofit, on Saturday, June 11 at 1 p.m.
"I know specifically they need a new pen for one of the bears they have up there," Ganzer said. "And I think they went a year without anyone up there, so they went a year without any revenue as well. So we're just trying to give them a shot in the arm like we've got from the community and get them back on their feet."
Here, giving back has always been part of the business plan.
"When we first opened, our first year, I think we donated $20,000 to the North Valleys," Ganzer said. "So it's something my business partner and I kind of pride ourselves on, ingraining yourself in the community. And it comes back to you. When you're in a position to help, you help."
Next month they're hosting a series of concerts that will benefit North Valleys Schools.
