Northern Nevada Joins 'Build for Unity' Effort

Leaders from local religious communities came together on Friday to announce an effort to build homes for Habitat for Humanity.

Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity, local faith groups and the Nevada Clergy Association announced that Northern Nevada is joining a national movement called "Build for Unity", which builds homes for local families in need.

Religious leaders say helping others is a foundation of faith.

"All religions they're telling you that you have to help those who are in need. You won't find any religion that doesn't say that. And we find our common ground and we stick together and we help each other,” says Shariff Al Fas, President, Northern Nevada Muslim Community.

After Sacramento, Reno is the second community in the country to commit to a "Build for Unity" home.
