After lots of work and years of planning, the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home opened up in June of this year.

For the first time since its opening, state officials as well as family and friends helped recognize those that have served our country.

Resident’s pictures were displayed on a big screen as they received a certificate and a pin recognizing them as Nevada heroes.

“They are the honored guests, period, we may have a few people coming to speak to honor them, but really it’s all about our veterans,” says Michael Ball, with the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home.

The facility has three different levels of care and it helps veterans with physical, occupational and speech therapy.  They also provide long term and memory care. All the rooms are private with a private bathroom.  The facility not only offers a room but also nursing care, meals, laundry and housekeeping.
