From NV Energy:
Fall has finally arrived in Northern Nevada, which means that winter is right around the corner. Experts are predicting one of the strongest El Nino episodes on record through the fall and winter season, and NV Energy wants to make sure that the Good Shepherd’s Clothes Closet in Reno is ready to offer warm coats for those in need.
To help stock supplies before the cold winter months hit, NV Energy is encouraging the community to drop-off new or gently used coats at the inaugural ”NV Energy Power the Warmth” drive-by coat drive on Friday, October 16, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at NV Energy, 6100 Neil Road in Reno. Participants can drive through the roundabout in front of the main NV Energy entrance, and volunteers will assist donors and take donations right from their vehicles. The organization needs coats of all sizes for men, women and children, however is most in need of heavy coats for men.
“We are hoping that people in the community will consider donating either a new or used winter coat to the Good Shepherd’s Clothes Closet to provide warmth and protection to someone in need.” said Karen Ross, NV Energy Community Relations Manager. “If the community rallies now, we can make a significant contribution to a good supply of coats before the weather turns cold and the hectic holiday season is upon us.”
The Good Shepherd’s Clothes Closet is a community based non-profit organization that works with about 170 referring agencies throughout northern Nevada to provide vouchers to those in need. Clients with vouchers are given the opportunity to “shop” once every 30 days and are never charged for any items.
