Located about an hour north of Truckee, CA and near Sierra City, the Sierra Buttes offers miles of trails to hike and the historic Fire Lookout Tower that was first built in the early 1900s. Operational through the early 2000s it was staffed in the summer months by forest service personal. It's a great hike to take in the views and you'll also see Sardine Lakes along the way.
