Placer County Deputies Say Body Recovered From Lake Tahoe

Placer County Sheriff's Deputies say they have recovered the body believed to be of a paddleboarder who went missing in Lake Tahoe in June 2016.

Sheriff's Deputies say 20-year-old Marc Ma went missing off of Obexer's Marina West Shore during a trip with friends on June 10, 2016. Deputies say five others were rescued by a nearby boat, but only Ma's paddle board and life vest were found floating nearby.

This past weekend, deputies say Ma's family hired a private contractor to search for his body with a specialized robotic system. Authorities say at approximately 1 p.m. on Monday, a camera spotted a body in 240 feet of water.

The body was recovered close to the West Shore Cafe area where he was last seen. He was brought to shore with assistance from the Placer County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Ma was a Nevada football player.
