The Placer County Sheriff's Office says it has found the remains of a woman linked to a cold case that happened in 2005.

The sheriff's says that in October of 2005 it investigated the murder of 27-year-old Christie Wilson.

The investigation led to the arrest of Mario Garcia who was convicted of first-degree murder, but Wilson's remains were never found.

Last week, detectives and investigators did another search around Garcia’s former home in Auburn and found skeletal remains.

Dental records show they are the remains of Christie Wilson.

Wilson's family has been notified.
