Plumas County Sheriff's Deputies say they are investigating a homicide that occurred north of Frenchman Lake in Plumas County earlier this month.Â
Deputies say hunters found the partially buried remains of 26-year-old Joshua Thomas Cottiero of Reno on October 2nd and that his remains appeared to have been there for a matter of some weeks.Â
The remains were excavated and taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
The cause of death is currently unknown and the case is still under investigation.
Officers say Cottiero was from Reno and had ties to the Virginia City area.
