Speaker: Nevada Assemblyman Pete Livermore Dies in Carson City

Pete Livermore, 2011 Legislative session

The late state assemblyman and supervisor who was a driving force behind the creation of several athletic fields in Carson City may soon have his name on the sports complex.

The Nevada Appeal reports the Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to recommend the board of supervisors rename the Edmond Sports Complex as the Pete Livermore Sports Complex.

Livermore died Oct. 20 at the age of 73. The two-term assemblyman had decided against running for re-election. He was a city supervisor for 12 years and president of the Carson City Youth Sports Association for 25 years.

Chamber of Commerce executive director Ronni Hannaman said the complex was Livermore's "signature park."

Newly elected Assemblyman P.K. O'Neill said his "heart and soul" is there.
