President Trump is tweeting his support for his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, raising speculation that a pardon may be coming.

Trump's tweets Thursday come as Flynn's lawyers released internal FBI documents to bolster their claim the FBI was trying to entrap him.

Trump has long said he is considering pardoning Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in 2017, and spent Wednesday night and Thursday morning retweeting supportive statements and a video Flynn tweeted of an American flag.

Trump tweeted, “What happened to General Michael Flynn, a war hero, should never be allowed to happen to a citizen of the United States again!”

On Thursday, senior adviser, Kellyanne Conway told reporters, "I am not gonna talk about a pardon, that is a presidential preference, but I think the President has made clear the way he feels. His family, his reputation, three years of enormous legal bills and the guy went from being the head of national security council to leaving very quickly in his tenure and frankly being persecuted and prosecuted by many people since then."
