Northern Nevada children in need will have a little more holiday cheer this year.
Through a partnership between the Reno Rodeo Foundation and Reno Aces, abused, neglected, and abandoned children in 14 Northern Nevada counties will receive new Christmas toys, scarves, Reno Rodeo coloring books, and Denim Drive teddy bears.
“The Reno Aces are extremely privileged to call the city of Reno home and the opportunity we have to give back to the community through the Denim Drive is exciting,” said Emily Jaenson, Reno Aces General Manager. “We understand the Reno Rodeo Foundation’s Denim Drive spreads so much joy every year to children in need and we are immensely thankful for the opportunity to be involved.”
The local minor league baseball team donated the new Christmas toys to the Reno Rodeo Foundation.
The Reno Rodeo Association Team 355 Volunteers and members of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 350 are helping load all the toys.
Thanks to their generosity, the State of Nevada’s Division of Child and Family Services will pick up the Christmas toys on Friday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Greater Nevada Field.
The toys and the other gifts will be distributed to the children associated with the Reno Rodeo Foundation’s Denim Drive.
“We are thrilled to be able to help bring a little extra joy to the kids we serve through the Denim Drive,” said Clara Andriola, executive director of the Reno Rodeo Foundation. “They’ve endured the unimaginable, but we hope a new toy makes their holiday a little brighter and sends the message that their community cares about them.”
The Reno Rodeo Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to aiding children and families in Northern Nevada.
The Reno Rodeo Foundation seeks to build community partnerships, provide scholarships to college students, and promote programs including the Denim Drive and the Family District Court Reading Rooms located throughout Northern Nevada.
The Denim Drive collects new clothing and financial donations to provide children in need the care and comfort they deserve.
