Reno Brewery Wins Gold Medal at Great American Beer Festival

A beer created right here in Reno has taken home the gold medal at one of the world's leading brewery competitions.

"It's definitely the top of the mountain...it's hard to take another step up from there,” says head brewer John Watterson.

A team of brewmaster brothers from Reno's Brasserie Saint James are basking in a big win from the Great American Beer Festival in Denver.

The Center Street brewery they call home picked up the "Mid-Size Brewpub of the Year" award.

And the beer that earned them a gold medal is called the "Daily Wages" - a French and Belgian saison. They credit a supportive community for making it all possible.

"We love to have support from local craft beer drinkers and enjoy that these other new breweries enjoy success as well, it's been really exciting,” says brewer Matthew Watterson.

You can find Brasserie Saint James on South Center Street, between Virginia Street and Holcomb Avenue.
