The City of Reno has plans for a new skate park in east Reno, but they're looking for community input before they can finalize the design.
It's planned for Miguel Ribera Park, located on Neil Road in Reno. It would be one of just a handful of skate parks in the city.
"One of my sons does skateboarding," Reno mother Lakenya Christian said. "He loves it. We usually go to the other one over by Hidden Valley, but this would be perfect right here."
"I think it's incredible," Reno skater Max Hammer said. "I think they could use a new skate park. They're all pretty beat up around here."
"If they build the ramps here, I would come here more often with my BMX, and my little brothers too," Reno BMX rider Juan Flores said.
Miguel Ribera Park is already host to soccer fields, playgrounds, and basketball courts. But there's plenty of open space for a new skate park as well. Many people in the park said that they'd appreciate a skate park closer to where they live. And they said they'd like to see a wide range of features, with a mix of difficulty levels.
"I think it's like the best thing for kids and grown ups and everyone in between," Hammer said. "It's a pretty inclusive place, so if you do it right, you'll get a lot of people. A lot of use."
